Before you

Does it really work offline?
Yes. Once installed, the bundled speech model runs on your Mac. Dictation doesn’t need a cloud transcription service or an internet connection.
Where can I use it?
Click an editable text field in an app such as Mail, Messages, your browser, or a text editor, then use your shortcut. Saylight inserts text using the standard Paste action. Some controls restrict insertion or replacement; you can always copy the transcript instead. A highlighted terminal transcript isn’t necessarily an editable selection.
What stays on my Mac?
Speech is processed locally, and audio isn’t saved to disk. Your dictionary, settings, and dictation history stay on your Mac too. You can pause or clear that history.
Which Macs and languages are supported?
The current installers support Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later, with English dictation. Multilingual models are being tested in development; they aren’t included in the installers yet.
How do I get Saylight?
Purchase Saylight from the ARG store, then choose the installer for your Mac. Open the DMG and drag Saylight into Applications. The app needs Microphone and Accessibility permissions to hear you and insert your text.
